Titus 1

(1) Paul, a slave of God and apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the knowledge of the truth that accords with godliness — (2) in hope of eternal life, which the unlying God promised before times eternal, (3) and in his own times he made his word manifest in the proclamation with which I was entrusted, according to the command of God our Saviour — (4) to Titus, a genuine child according to common faith: grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our saviour.

(5) For this reason I left you behind in Crete, so that you would set in order the things that are lacking and appoint elders in every city, as I arranged for you: (6) if anyone is blameless, a husband of one wife, with children who are faithful, not accused of debauchery or insubordinate — (7) for the overseer must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not a drunkard, not a brawler, not fond of base gain, (8) but hospitable, loving what is good, self-controlled, righteous, holy, self-mastered, (9) holding fast to the faithful word that accords with the teaching, so that he may be able both to exhort in the healthy teaching and to convict those who contradict.

(10) For there are many insubordinate empty-talkers and mind-deceivers, especially those of the circumcision — (11) it is necessary to muzzle them, since they overturn whole households, teaching things they ought not, for the sake of base gain. (12) One of them, their own prophet, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle bellies.” (13) This testimony is true. For this reason, convict them severely, so that they may be healthy in the faith, (14) not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of people who turn away from the truth. (15) All things are clean to the clean; but to those who are defiled and faithless, nothing is clean; rather, both their mind and their conscience have been defiled. (16) They confess to know God, but by their works they deny him, being abhorrent and disobedient, and unfit for every good work.

Titus 2

(1) But you, speak what is fitting for healthy teaching: (2) older men are to be sober, dignified, self-controlled, healthy in faith, in love, in endurance; (3) older women likewise, reverent in deportment, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of good, (4) so that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, (5) to be self-controlled, pure, home-workers, good, subjecting themselves to their own husbands, so that the word of God may not be blasphemed. (6) Exhort the younger men likewise to be self-controlled; (7) in all things present yourself as a pattern of good works; in the teaching, show purity, dignity, (8) a healthy, irreproachable word, so that the one from the opposite side may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. (9) Slaves are to be subject to their own masters in all things, to be well-pleasing, not contradicting, (10) not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that they may adorn the teaching of God our Saviour in all things.

(11) For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, (12) training us so that, having denied ungodliness and worldly desires, we may live self-controlledly, righteously, and godly in the present age, (13) awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and of our saviour Jesus Christ, (14) who gave himself for us, so that he might ransom us from all lawlessness and cleanse for himself a special people, zealous for good works. (15) Speak these things, and exhort, and convict with all authority. Let no one despise you.

Titus 3

(1) Keep reminding them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work; (2) to slander no one, to be non-quarrelsome, gentle, showing all meekness toward all people. (3) For we also were once foolish, disobedient, being deceived, serving various desires and pleasures, passing life in evil and envy, hateful, hating one another. (4) But when the kindness and love for people of God our Saviour appeared, (5) not by works in righteousness that we ourselves did, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewal of holy spirit, (6) which He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our saviour, (7) so that, having been justified by the grace of that one, we might become heirs according to hope of eternal life. (8) The saying is faithful; and concerning these things I want you to affirm confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are good and beneficial to people.

(9) But avoid foolish disputes and genealogies and quarrels and legal fights; for they are useless and empty. (10) Refuse a divisive person after a first and second warning, (11) knowing that such a one has been perverted and sins, being self-condemned.

(12) When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, be diligent to come to me at Nicopolis; for I have decided to spend the winter there. (13) Speed Zenas the legal expert and Apollos on their way diligently, so that nothing may be lacking for them. (14) And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works for pressing needs, so that they may not be unfruitful. (15) All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in faith. The grace be with all of you.
