Philippians 1

(1) Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus, to all the holy ones in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, together with overseers and servants: (2) grace to you and peace from God our Father and lord Jesus Christ.

(3) I give thanks to my God upon every remembrance of you, (4) always in every prayer of mine on behalf of all of you, making the prayer with joy, (5) because of your partnership for the glad-tidings from the first day until now, (6) having been convinced of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus. (7) Just as it is right for me to think this concerning all of you, because I have you in my heart, both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the glad-tidings, you all being co-sharers with me of the grace. (8) For God is my witness, how I long for all of you in the affections of Christ Jesus.

(9) And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all perception, (10) for you to approve the things that differ, so that you may be pure and without stumbling unto the day of Christ, (11) having been filled with the fruit of righteousness through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

(12) But I want you to know, brothers, that the things concerning me have come rather to the advancement of the glad-tidings, (13) so that my bonds in Christ became manifest in all the praetorian guard and to all the rest, (14) and most of the brothers, having been convinced in the lord by my bonds, dare more abundantly to speak the word fearlessly.

(15) Some indeed proclaim the Christ through envy and strife, but some also through goodwill. (16) The ones from love do so, having known that I am appointed for the defense of the glad-tidings; (17) the ones from selfish ambition proclaim the Christ, not purely, thinking to raise affliction for my bonds. (18) What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice — yes, and I will rejoice.

(19) For I know that this will turn out for me unto salvation through your prayer and the supply of the spirit of Jesus Christ, (20) according to my eager expectation and hope, that I will be put to shame in nothing, but in all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether through life or through death. (21) For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. (22) But if to live in flesh — this for me is fruit of work; and what I will choose I do not know. (23) But I am pressed from the two: having the desire to depart and to be with Christ, for it is far better; (24) but to remain in the flesh is more necessary on account of you. (25) And having been convinced of this, I know that I will remain and remain alongside all of you, for your advancement and joy of the faith, (26) so that your boast may abound in Christ Jesus in me, through my arrival again to you.

(27) Only conduct yourselves as citizens worthily of the glad-tidings of the Christ, so that whether I come and see you, or am absent, I may hear the things concerning you — that you stand in one spirit, with one soul, contending alongside for the faith of the glad-tidings, (28) and in nothing being terrified by the ones opposing, which is to them a sign of destruction, but of your salvation, and this from God. (29) Because to you it was granted, on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on behalf of him, (30) having the same contest, such as you saw in me, and now hear in me.

Philippians 2

(1) If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any partnership of spirit, if any affections and mercies, (2) fulfill my joy, that you might think the same thing, having the same love, of one soul, thinking the one thing, (3) nothing according to selfish ambition nor according to empty glory, but in lowliness of mind considering one another surpassing yourselves, (4) not each looking after the things of themselves, but each also the things of others.

(5) Think this among yourselves, which also is in Christ Jesus: (6) who, existing in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as a thing to be seized, (7) but emptied himself, having taken the form of a slave, having become in human likeness; and being found in fashion as a human, (8) he humbled himself, having become obedient until death — even death of a cross. (9) Therefore also God super-exalted him and graciously granted to him the name above every name, (10) so that in the name of Jesus every knee might bow — of heavenly ones, and earthly ones, and under-earth ones — (11) and every tongue might confess that Jesus Christ is lord, unto the glory of God the Father.

(12) Therefore, my beloved, just as you always obeyed, not as in my arrival only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; (13) for God is the one working in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. (14) Do all things without grumblings and reasonings, (15) so that you might become blameless and pure children of God, unblemished in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, (16) holding firmly the word of life, unto a boast for me unto the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain nor labor in vain. (17) But even if I am being poured out upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and rejoice with all of you. (18) And in the same way you also, rejoice and rejoice with me.

(19) But I hope in the lord Jesus to send Timothy to you quickly, so that I also might be cheered, having known the things concerning you. (20) For I have no one of equal soul who will genuinely care for the things concerning you. (21) For all seek the things of themselves, not the things of Jesus Christ. (22) But you know his proof, that as a child with a father he slaved with me for the glad-tidings. (23) This one therefore I hope to send immediately, as soon as I see the things concerning me. (24) But I have been convinced in the lord that I myself also will come quickly.

(25) But I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow-worker and fellow-soldier, and your emissary and minister of my need, (26) since he was longing for all of you and was distressed, because you heard that he was ill. (27) For indeed he was ill, near to death. But God showed mercy to him — and not to him only, but also to me, so that I might not have grief upon grief. (28) Therefore I sent him more diligently, so that having seen him again you might rejoice, and I might be less sorrowful. (29) Receive him therefore in the lord with all joy, and hold such ones honored, (30) because for the work of Christ he drew near to death, having risked his life, so that he might fill up your lack of service toward me.

Philippians 3

(1) Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the lord. To write the same things to you is not irksome to me, but is safe for you. (2) Watch out for the dogs, watch out for the evil workers, watch out for the mutilation. (3) For we are the circumcision, the ones rendering service by God's spirit and boasting in Christ Jesus, and not having been convinced in flesh.

(4) Although I have confidence even in flesh — if anyone thinks to have been convinced in flesh, I more: (5) circumcision on the eighth day, from the family of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew from Hebrews, according to law a Pharisee, (6) according to zeal persecuting the assembly, according to the righteousness in the law having become blameless. (7) But whatever was gain to me, these I have considered loss because of the Christ. (8) But rather, I even consider all things to be loss because of the surpassing worth of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my lord, because of whom I suffered the loss of all things and consider them refuse, so that I might gain Christ (9) and be found in him, not having my own righteousness from the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ — the righteousness from God upon the faith — (10) to know him and the power of his resurrection and the partnership of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, (11) if somehow I might arrive at the out-resurrection from the dead.

(12) Not that I already obtained, or already have been perfected; but I pursue, if I might also lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. (13) Brothers, I do not consider myself to have laid hold; but one thing: forgetting the things behind and stretching out to the things before, (14) I pursue according to the goal, unto the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (15) As many as are perfect, let us think this; and if you think anything differently, God will also reveal this to you. (16) Nevertheless, unto what we arrived, walk in line with the same.

(17) Become co-imitators of me, brothers, and watch those walking thus, just as you have us as a pattern. (18) For many walk, whom I used to tell you often, but now even weeping I tell: the enemies of the cross of the Christ, (19) whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and their glory in their shame — the ones thinking the earthly things. (20) For our citizenship exists in heavens, from which also we eagerly await a savior, lord Jesus Christ, (21) who will transform the body of our humiliation, conformed to his body of glory, according to the energy by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.

Philippians 4

(1) Therefore, my brothers, beloved and longed-for, my joy and crown, thus stand in the lord, beloved.

(2) I exhort Euodia, and I exhort Syntyche, to think the same thing in the lord. (3) Yes, I ask also you, genuine yokefellow, take hold together with them, who contended alongside me in the glad-tidings, with also Clement and the rest of my fellow-workers, whose names are in the book of life.

(4) Rejoice in the lord always; again I will say, rejoice. (5) Let your gentleness be known to all humans. The Lord is near. (6) Be anxious about nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. (7) And the peace of God, surpassing every mind, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(8) Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovable, whatever is well-spoken-of — if any excellence and if any praise — consider these things. (9) What you also learned and received and heard and saw in me, practice these things; and the God of peace will be with you.

(10) But I rejoiced in the lord greatly, that now at last you sprouted again the thinking for me — on which you were also thinking, but you were lacking opportunity. (11) Not that I say according to lack; for I learned in whatever I am to be content. (12) I know also to be humbled, I know also to abound; in everything and in all things I have been initiated — both to be fed and to hunger, and to abound and to be in lack. (13) All things I am strong in the one empowering me.

(14) Nevertheless you did well, having co-shared with me in the affliction. (15) But you also know, Philippians, that in the beginning of the glad-tidings, when I went out from Macedonia, no assembly shared with me unto a reckoning of giving and receiving, except you alone. (16) For also in Thessalonica, both once and twice, you sent for my need. (17) Not that I earnestly seek the gift, but I earnestly seek the fruit abounding unto your reckoning. (18) But I hold fully all things and abound; I have been filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things from you — an odor of fragrance, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. (19) But my God will fill every need of you according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (20) But to the God and Father of us be the glory unto the ages of the ages. Amen.

(21) Greet every holy one in Christ Jesus. The brothers with me greet you. (22) All the holy ones greet you, especially the ones from Caesar's household. (23) The grace of the lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
