Philemon 1

(1) Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy the brother, to Philemon the beloved and our fellow-worker, (2) and to Apphia the sister, and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the assembly in your house: (3) Favor to you and peace from God our Father and lord Jesus Christ.

(4) I thank my God always, making remembrance of you in my prayers, (5) hearing of your love and of the faith which you have toward the lord Jesus and toward all the holy ones, (6) so that the partnership of your faith might become active in knowledge of every good thing that is in us for Christ. (7) For I had much joy and encouragement because of your love, since the affections of the holy ones have been refreshed through you, brother.

(8) Therefore, having much confidence in Christ to command you to do what is fitting, (9) through love I rather entreat — being such a one as Paul, an old man, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus. (10) I entreat you concerning my child, whom I begot in the bonds, Onesimus, (11) the one formerly useless to you, but now useful both to you and to me. (12) I sent him back to you — him, that is, my affections — (13) whom I was wishing to keep with me, so that on your behalf he might serve me in the bonds of the gospel. (14) But apart from your consent I wanted to do nothing, so that your good deed might not be by necessity but voluntary.

(15) For perhaps it was for this reason that he was separated for an hour, so that you might have him back eternally, (16) no longer as a slave, but more than a slave — a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the lord. (17) If, then, you have me as a partner, receive him as me. (18) But if he wronged you in anything or owes anything, charge this to me. (19) I, Paul, wrote with my own hand — I will repay — not to mention that you owe me even yourself in addition. (20) Yes, brother, may I benefit from you in the lord; refresh my affections in Christ.

(21) Being confident of your obedience, I wrote to you, knowing that you will do even beyond what I say. (22) At the same time, also prepare lodging for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be granted to you. (23) Epaphras, my co-captive in Christ Jesus, greets you; (24) Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke — my fellow-workers — greet you. (25) The favor of the lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
